Solar Eclipse in Lincoln City

Just the mention of October brings the thought of Halloween, costumes, candy, and horror movies. It seems we spend all month long preparing for the last day of the month, and in the chaos we forget that the month of October is also commonly associated with the Harvest season. There are thirty more days in October to enjoy beyond Halloween, and with Halloween seemingly beginning the chaos of the rest of the holiday season – from Thanksgiving to New Years – it’s important to remind ourselves to take a breath, look around and enjoy what the rest of the month offers.

Have a Whale of a time with us in January!

Winter whale watching is an enjoyable pastime on the Central Oregon Coast. Lincoln County offers spectacular vantage points to spot some of the migrating grey whales offshore. Winter on the Oregon Coast is also a wonderful time for storm watching. After the storms there are always a trove of treasures to be found on the area beaches. New tide pools form, and interesting shells and agates wash up for the beach combers’ delight. Make sure to bring your binoculars and prepare for mother nature to put on a show for you while in Lincoln City.

Everyone loves going to the beach in Lincoln City and looking for the beautiful glass floats to take home to show off. You’re in luck! Starting October 17th Finders keepers on the beach is starting up again. Make your way to the Oregon coast beaches to start your scavenger hunt before everyone else does. You will want to be here first because they will be putting out 50 extra glass floats, 50 glass art pieces, and a jumbo float with a weekend getaway package!

For those lucky enough to have Presidents Day off on Monday the 16th, Valentine’s Day is the start of a three day weekend. Showing our appreciation for loved ones should be a yearlong occasion, but a long weekend at the coast is a great way to go that extra step.

Winter Whale Watching Week - 27 - 30 December 2014

It is that time of year where gray whales make one of their longest migrations. The Gray Whales are on their way to Mexico, travelling from the Bering Sea, to give birth. They travel over 5,000 miles to the shallow lagoons where the females will stay for 3 months allowing the calves to gain weight and be safe from hungry Orcas.
